The natural landscape is characterized by the presence of the Coghinas river, after a winding journey of about 123 km, ends its course right at the area of Valledoria, creating a broad delta plain, among the most important in Sardinia.

The mouth of Coghinas is the most important wetland of Northern Sardinia and boasts numerous species of resident and migratory birds that nest among the reeds on the banks and river islands

Located at the mouth of the river Coghinas, Valledoria has just around the terminal stretch of the river, a great beach. Its stretch of coastline ofrre gorgeous views. The remarkable natural beauty of the estuary and surrounding areas, is confirmed at the European level with the establishment of a Site of Community Importance, called the Mouth of Coghinas.

Around the mouth there are a sailing school, a surf center, a canoeing center and there are offered also river boat tours (bird watching)..
