THE ISLAND OF COLOURS, SCENTS, BEAUTIES AND TREASURE
Every place of our beaches worth a visit or a long stay... and why not make a trip in to the interiors of Sardinia …so you can experience the island in many ways! The landscape makes Sardinia a real continent, in fact the island is a region different from others, for various historical and geographic reasons and for many excellent natural values. The province of Sassari is rich of woods, rivers, plains, hills, all of them in a small dimension…
One of the highest mountain in the area is monte Limbara, close to Tempio. Nearly 1.400 m high is the highest peak with splendid views over the forests and a beautiful panorama over all northern Sardinia. So, this place is the most appealing attraction for visitors who loves excursion. Towards ovest we find the artificial lake of Tula. This one guarantee the transport of potable water but also the possibility of doing same water sports (sky water, surf etc…) Towars nord-west of Tempio, in Diga Liscia, we found one more artificial lake. Near the southern shores of the artificial lake of liscia, there is this 15 metre high -11 metre round tree, 2000 years old (Ulivi millenari).
For lay’s people its difficult to understand what Sardinia has in common with Arizona (Usa) and Siberia (Russia). That is true! But Sardinia is one of the place were found, within the area of Anglona, in Perfugas and Bulzi , the remains of fossilized forest ( from the prehistoric time) The trunks underwent various processes of silicization, became fossilized, and came down to us. Thanks to a man’s work (landowners) worried for its land, one night they decided to roll down from the mountain the trunk on the river…, same of those trunk are still in the River Altana, in the area of Perfugas but visitors can reach also Martis, a small town 5 km away from Perfugas, (with a beautiful park ).
Lying along the road that from Aggius leads to Trinità D’Agultu, we found la Valle Della Luna, it is a vast arid basin made suggestive by variously shaped and laid-out granite stones and rocks, one of the most suggestive stone, thanks to its shape, is the capuchin Friar with his hand on the face! At the end of September, you can see a lot of cars parked on the edge of the road…the reason? People go mushrooming! (champignons, boletus etc..).
During a visit here, we propose an excursion towards Monte Ossoni, near Castelsardo or San Gavino in Viddalba, were you can admire a beautiful view of the panorama over all northern Sardinia ,with the summits of Corsica to the west and Asinara to the east. So for romantic people or photographer the sunset of Monte Ossoni is perfect!
For those who loves the sea, we propose a wonderful trip by boat in the archipelago of La Maddalena, one of the most beautiful places in the Mediterranean Sea. During the journey you will visit some inhabited small islands. At lunch time the captain offers a typical meal prepared by him: pasta with mussels, local wines, mirto and coffee. We also organise a beautiful excursion in l’Asinara.
Visitors can find beaches and inlets, viewpoints, monuments etc… and in the area of Alghero we find the amazing cave of Neptune, the biggest in Europe, but can only be reached by boat or after 660 steps. So for those who want to discover Sardinia in all its extraordinary fascination and complessity, we have the doubt that we forgot to mention something… Probably is true!
